What are the goals of CKHHI and how will these be accomplished?

Executive Committee
Foster communication, support local initiatives and develop collaborative and inclusive partnerships among all those seeking to end homelessness and ameliorate housing insecurity.

  • Develop a long-term plan to address homelessness in our region.
  • Create a public awareness campaign highlighting the challenges of homelessness and housing insecurity. Chair: Claudia Blaylock

    Public Awareness Committee
    Educate the community about the causes of, and solutions to, homelessness - as well as disseminate information about what individuals and groups can do to help end homelessness and ameliorate housing insecurity.

  • Initiate a public awareness campaign, including a speakers’ bureau.
  • Implement web-site information accessibility for the community. Chair: Amber Cronen

    Organizing Committee
    Organize and empower homeless and at-risk individuals and families through the promotion of nurturing transitional environments and by fostering their economic and social independence.

  • Initiate collaborations to improve connections between homeless persons and mainstream resources.
  • Increase access to mainstream resources in existing housing programs. Chair: Carol Stevenson

    Fund Development Committee
    Identify the availability of funding to expand training and technical assistance.

  • Increase funding for CKHHI activities
  • Increase funding to provide technical assistance to local service providers. Chair: David Christiansen

    Public Policy Committee
    Initiate policy and legislative advocacy efforts to end homelessness and increase the supply of affordable housing.

  • Sponsor legislation on enforcement of existing regulations on congregate living facilities.
  • In cooperation with Human Rights Commission, seek to increase visibility in court on forcible detainers. Chair: David Christiansen

    Research/HMIS Committee
    Add to the knowledge base of homelessness through research, information coordination and dissemination.

  • Develop recommendations for a more comprehensive and visionary use of the HMIS technology.
  • Conduct a bi-annual homeless count in Lexington Chair: Amber Cronen

    Membership Committee
    Increase membership involvement in CKHHI

  • Develop outreach efforts to involve more homeless people in CKHHI.
  • Increase involvement of broader sectors of the community in CKHHI Chair: Carol Stevenson
